One of the world's leading suppliers of refinery catalysts uses Silverson mixers around the world to produce clean liquid fuels from residual heavy oils.
The company develops and supplies catalysts to companies primarily in the oil industry. Catalysts are used to convert heavy or crude oils that are highly viscous and cannot flow easily from production wells.
Silverson mixers are used to produce a uniform, homogeneous dispersion of catalyst in heavy oil, which will help refineries to increase the yield of extraction of the black oil residue.
Silverson mixers first create a premix of catalyst and diluent gas. Once this step is completed, the mixture is injected into the manifold to be mixed with heavy oil.
To date, the company has purchased seven Silverson mixers for its customers in Europe and China, and three additional potential projects require Silverson high shear mixing technology. The company hopes that their process will eventually become standardized across all refineries.
Six of the mixers purchased are 800LS ATEX In-Line Mixers due to the flammable nature of the product.
