  • Mixing honey without crystallization and other problems with Silverson mixers

Honey is widely used not only in food, but also in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries due to its functional and medicinal properties as an antioxidant. However, it can be extremely difficult to process due to its highly viscous and "sticky" characteristics.

When manufacturing honey-based products using a traditional agitator, a number of problems can arise:

• overheating and aeration
• сomplicated process of adding powders and other flavors to honey as they tend to "float" on the surface.
• Layering of the solution and the need for long mixing to achieve a good result

Silverson offers high shear in-line mixers that are ideal for mixing different types of honey. Using a Silverson mixer to work with honey has a number of advantages:

• Silverson mixers are able to mix fluids of a wide range of viscosities and produce a homogeneous mixture, eliminating segregation problems
• Mixing operations can be carried out in a closed system without aeration.
• Fast processing time reduces the risk of unintentional temperature rise caused by long mixing times.
• High shear batch mixers provide rapid incorporation and dispersion of any powdered ingredients, eliminating segregation problems and forming a agglomerate-free solution.

Silverson offers a range of mixers suitable for handling honey, depending on the application, ingredient type, batch size, and position of the mixer in the mixing vessel. We also offer tests with your products at the Silverson test center to find the best mixer for your product.
